Warrior > Dervish and a W/D Endurance Scythe can get things done more quickly than a dervish can due to the Strenght atribute and the constant energy gain. No to mention a warrior has other weapon sets available allowing him to play diferent roles. Also think it has a higher survivability, 100 armor vs 70 is a huge diference and you have a monk in your team for a reason.
And yes I've played dervish, have one with elite armor and every dervish skill in the game (literally wasted 200k+ on her), finished all campaigns and I still slap myself when I look at her in the character selection. Useless as hell.
Sorry if that didn't persuade you.

My main is my dervish. She's working on titles 29/30 and i will max her hall tonight. I've had runs by a derv, farm with her and quite happily do what PvE throws at me with her. Each profession has it's pro/cons..i've seem people say how useless warriors are. Just for fun i think they're great and then theres the avatars....

dervs - hot , constant avatar is awesome. really good runners as well. tormented scythes are cool . i like derv farming because its alot different from other farming. 130 farming farms like other 55 / 600 builds but it doesnt rely on others attack for damage, it relies on you attacking to do damage. so i'd run into a group of monsters, take out the slowest attackers ( might even get 3 if you position yourself well ) and get the rest. if eternal aura is casted with proper planning, you might be able to have constant IAS from heart of fury. now that i've said everything good about a derv, i feel like making one again >.> lol .

Warriors are boring. You charge into the center of a mob, stroke through keys 1 to 8 and hope you hit something hard.

I'm going through something similar to the OP, I want to get my derv out again. and to the OP; since you said you wanted it as a "for fun" character it may be worth it to try some different strategies with the derv. at least for me coming up with something new can keep me interested in a character/class a lot more than completeing any titles or w/e on them.
For example I'm thinking of trying some necro abilities on the derv, stuff like withering aura or something. Maybe it won't be the most effective, but hey it's for fun not for 100% completionist effeciency right?
(and for the record I've found sins use scythes the best :P)

dervs are tankbots imo. too much defense not enough dmg. play sin for MS/DB or war with war END scythe.

warriors and sins have interrupts and shutdown skills. dervs do not. [conjure frost][wounding strike][heart of fury] is all i give them credit for.

If you like the looks of the Dervish, go for it.
However, both Assassins and Warriors will be more effective, both in survivability and damage. The Dervish is just an inferior class, with the exception of Avatar builds for some areas. On the plus side it looks better then fat ugly Warriors

if you love [warrior's endurance] with a Scythe so much than you can also use [Zealous Vow] in a Dervish for a very similar effect...
Dervish is infact an awsome class in PvE if you play it properly. it can do anything the Warrior can do, and have a lot more flexibility, for PvE that is not PvP!
Dervish runners are some of the best, and dont even require EotN to be successful! [Avatar of Balthazar] and [Avatar of Dwayna] as well as [Vow of Silence] all make great runners! 130 Dervish can farm almost anywhere, and actually deals the damage himself. you can tank and spank with [Obsidian Flesh] like those Warriors and Eles, so no loss there.
Dervish is just awsome, go back to it and see what it is you love doing the most, a Dervish can do it!

If interrupting is your definition of fun, why the hell not.
